Hi all, sorry I am so late in posting this. December was a stressful month full of money, college and family related issues. Some good news is that I now have a part-time job working as a bar maid in a night club which is some extra money in the forever-empty pig. I also really enjoy it which means I am more likely to stick to it. I recommend a bar job to sociable people that cannot afford to go out a lot. My job gives me more of a social life than I had before and I get to meet loads of interesting people. I have also sought help because of the recent dip in my mood and the college councillor seems nice. It’s good having someone impartial to talk to.
A new member has joined my household – Scrappy – a loveable, young rescue dog. I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him and just knew I’d be taking him home with me. Pets can be great for your mood; they give you unconditional love and get you out of the house a few times a day, no matter how awful you feel.
Christmas was great. The food, the family, presents and a little snow, who could ask for more. Sometimes it can get a bit depressing as my family is so much smaller than it used to be and I am reminded (especially at this time of year) of the people that aren’t with us anymore, but it also makes me grateful for the family I do have left.
My university application has just been sent off so now it’s fingers crossed and focus on the upcoming exams, which should be a whole lot easier now I have had the carpal tunnel surgery on my wrist. I am in a lot of pain right now, but it will be worth it and I’m glad I had it done long before my exams.
All in all, the year is shaping up to be a good year (apart from the flu and ear infection 🙁 ) and I hope it just keeps on getting better. I have not made any resolutions this year apart from just to try and be happy. I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year and aren’t feeling too down about the ending of the holidays.
